What Is the Zone Technique?
Think of your body as six orchestras playing together. When one falls out of rhythm, the whole performance suffers. The Zone Technique identifies which of your six body systems is out of sync, so we treat the cause of your pain, not just the location. Chiropractor Norwich and Chiropractor Yarmouth are the only clinics in Norfolk offering this approach.

A Different Way of Looking at Your Body
The Zone Technique is a chiropractic assessment method that checks six body systems through pressure points on the back of the head, then adjusts the spinal segments that correspond to any system found to be under stress. Developed by Dr Thurman Fleet and refined over decades of clinical practice, it is based on a simple but powerful principle: the body is made up of six interconnected systems, and when any of these systems are out of rhythm, symptoms appear.
Pain, fatigue, headaches, and digestive issues are not random. They are signals from specific systems in the body that are no longer communicating properly with the brain. The Zone Technique finds which systems are sending those signals and why. Rather than simply chasing the location of the symptom.
This is why patients at Chiropractor Norwich often report improvements beyond just their presenting complaint. When the nervous system communicates properly with all six zones, the whole body functions better.
Six Body Systems. One Assessment.
Every cell, organ, and tissue in your body belongs to one of these six zones. When a zone is under stress, the symptoms can appear anywhere along that system. This is why treating only the location of pain so often misses the real cause.
Zone 1: Glandular
Thyroid, adrenals, reproductive organs, and immune function. Controls hormones, energy levels, inflammation, and recovery. Glandular stress is a common driver of migraines, fatigue, and fibromyalgia symptoms.
Zone 2: Eliminative
Sinuses, lungs, kidneys, bladder, skin, and lymphatic system. Controls the body's ability to clear waste and toxins. When the eliminative system is under stress, congestion, respiratory strain, and skin issues develop.
Zone 3: Nervous
Brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and sensory function. The master system. When the nerve zone is under stress, pain signals are amplified, nerve symptoms worsen, and the body's ability to heal slows down.
Zone 4: Digestive
Stomach, intestines, liver, and gallbladder. Controls digestion, absorption, and nutrition. The gut-brain connection via the vagus nerve means digestive stress can trigger headaches, neck tension, and systemic inflammation.
Zone 5: Muscular
All muscles, tendons, and ligaments. Controls movement, posture, and strength. Muscular pain in the back, neck, and shoulders is often a downstream effect of imbalance in one of the other five zones.
Zone 6: Circulatory
Heart, blood vessels, and lymphatic circulation. Controls blood flow, tissue healing, and oxygen delivery. Circulatory restriction is central to dizziness, slow healing, and chronic joint stiffness.
How the Zone Technique Works in Practice
Assess the Six Zones
The chiropractor assesses each zone by palpating specific pressure points on the back of the head. These points correspond to the six zones and reveal which systems are functioning well and which are under stress.
Identify the Stressed Systems
The assessment reveals a clear picture of which zones are under the most pressure. This is different from a standard spinal examination because it looks at the body as six interconnected systems, not just the area of pain.
Adjust the Corresponding Segments
The spine is then adjusted at the segments that correspond to the stressed zones. This restores proper nervous system communication to those systems. The adjustment is precise and targeted, not a general spinal manipulation.
The Body Responds
When the nervous system communicates properly with all six zones, the whole body functions better. This is why patients often report improvements in energy, sleep, digestion, and mood alongside pain relief.
Why the Zone Technique Gets Results Other Treatments Miss
Consider a patient with chronic neck pain. Conventional treatment adjusts the cervical spine. Massage releases the tight muscle. Physiotherapy strengthens around the problem. But the neck tightens again within days.
The Zone Technique reveals that the neck tension is being driven by glandular stress (thyroid overload), digestive inflammation (via the vagus nerve), or nerve system hypersensitivity (central sensitisation). These are the systems causing the neck to tighten. Until they are addressed, the symptom keeps returning.
This is the same pattern we see with back pain, sciatica, headaches, shoulder pain, hip pain, fibromyalgia, and many other conditions. The area of pain is real, but the cause is often in a different system. The Zone Technique finds the real cause.
🧬 The Only Zone Technique Clinic in Norfolk

Conditions That Respond Well to the Zone Technique
Because the Zone Technique assesses all six body systems, it is effective across a wide range of conditions. It is particularly powerful for conditions that have not responded to other treatments, because those conditions often involve system-level imbalances that conventional approaches do not evaluate.
Back Pain
Lower back, upper back, chronic pain, disc problems
Sciatica
Leg pain, numbness, nerve compression
Headaches & Migraines
Tension headaches, chronic migraines, hormonal headaches
Shoulder Pain
Frozen shoulder, rotator cuff, referred pain from neck
Fibromyalgia
Widespread pain, fatigue, sleep disruption, nervous system dysregulation

The Zone Technique is a chiropractic assessment method that identifies which of the body's six systems (Glandular, Eliminative, Nervous, Digestive, Muscular, Circulatory) are under stress.
